In federal court in Los Angeles filed a lawsuit on behalf of 28 plaintiffs who accused the world's largest car manufacturers in the deliberate misleading of consumers, according to "Kommersant". It is alleged that the company wrongly inform motorists about how to use the system keyless engine start, and it has already led to 13 deaths.

According to the plaintiffs, many machine owners think that if you leave the car, leaving a key in his pocket, the engine will be turned off automatically. In fact it does not, and if the machine is left in a garage or covered parking space, carbon monoxide fills the room. In cases where the garage built into the house or adjacent to it, it entails a risk of death.
Among the defendants in the lawsuit are listed companies BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Fiat Chrysler, Ford Motor, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen. The plaintiffs argue that all these companies were aware of these risks, but continued to advertise the keyless system without focusing on security requirements.
It should be noted that the manufacturers themselves do not knowingly permit the engine to stall, if the smart key is removed from the cabin. It is believed that the key may be, for example, accidentally thrown out the window when driving, and forced to turn off the engine in such a situation is extremely dangerous. Ford Motor and GM patented system automatically stops the engine, but it is only set for the new models. Total circulation of vehicles sold in the US with the keyless system has already exceeded 5 million units. If these developments will be recognized obviously dangerous, manufacturers expect huge fines.
The lawsuit was filed in the same court, which two years ago was considered the accusation "Toyota" on the spontaneous acceleration of the vehicle. Then it all ended so that the Japanese company has agreed to pay compensation of $ 1.6 billion.
